Under the supervision of the Table Mountains

The route winds along roads where sandstone monuments of the Table Mountains alternate with inconspicuous valleys of small rivers and ponds. You can simply enjoy the diversity of the local nature or spice up your ride by climbing the table mountains Děčínský Sněžník and Großer Zschirnstein. From Maxice you can take cycle route 23 (CT 23) towards Děčínský Sněžník. From the village of Sněžník to the lookout tower it is still 2 km uphill on an asphalt road. After returning from the lookout tower, return to the crossroads with the restaurant and parking lot and turn right.

After 2 km on CT 23 you will reach a crossroads and turn left at a significant right-hand bend. After 1.5 km at the next fork turn right along the yellow Fuchsbachstraße. At the Alte Flößerbrücke bridge, you can take the forest path (approx. 2 km) to Kristin Hrádek, where excellent refreshments are available, and then return. From the Flößerbrücke, continue straight ahead on the green to the Taubenteich pond. From here, take the yellow road again, which turns off after about 2 km, and you keep going straight along the Krippenbach stream. At the next crossroads turn right and you follow the green Schifferweg. On this path you will meet the turn-off to Großer Zschirnstein, the lookout point on Table Mountain. You can hike to it less than 2 km along the red hiking trail or continue on. At the fork, turn right along the cycle path, which turns into a green forest path. This way you will cross the border at the so-called Czech Gate and after a few hundred metres you will be back on the asphalt road that will lead you back to Maxičky.

Our tip

Refreshments in the Kristin Hrádek restaurant - enjoy selected old Bohemian specialties.

The best on the route

Děčínský Sněžník - a sandstone table mountain, which with its 723 m represents the peak of the Děčín Highlands and is also the largest and highest table mountain in the Czech Republic. The dominant feature here is a stone lookout tower offering a picturesque panorama of the surrounding region.

Großer Zschirnstein - this table mountain also offers wonderful views, but you should walk about 1.7 km along the red hiking trail to see them.

Practical

From the village of Sněžník to the lookout tower is still 2 km climb on an asphalt road. On the way back, choose a reasonable speed, taking into account those who are still climbing to the top.
