The bridge reopened to all vehicle traffic this afternoon, having passed inspection by a structural engineer after a damaged portion of its steel construction was replaced. The bridge is now open not only to pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport, but to passenger cars as well. Please respect traffic signs:
The temporary speed limit on the bridge is 20 km/h
There may be lane closures in places where repairs are underway
Other planned work on the bridge will continue. On some days, the bridge may be partially closed.
Další plánované stavební práce, konkrétně oprava dilatace, budou průběžně pokračovat. V některých dnech tak bude na mostě kyvadlově řízená doprava.
The bridge was closed entirely almost one month ago on Friday, 2 May. Work began on temporary support of the bridge immediately.

Tyrs Bridge in Decin was partially reopened as of Friday, May 16, at 3 pm after an inspection following several days of work on a temporary support. Cyclists, pedestrians, emergency services, and city/regional buses are allowed on the bridge again. It remains closed to all other vehicles.
“At the recommendation of the structural engineer, we have decided that in addition to cyclists and pedestrians, we will also allow buses and emergency services on Tyrs Bridge, which are a priority for us,” says Mayor Jiří Anděl.
“Work on securing the bridge will continue and the roadway is narrowed on the end of the bridge on the left bank because of it. We expect that cars will be able to drive on the bridge again in about three weeks. For the time being, we cannot allow them there not only because of the load, but also so that work can proceed at a faster pace,” adds Deputy Mayor Ondřej Smíšek. The bridge was completely closed two weeks ago on Friday, 2 May. Immediately afterwards, preparatory work began on temporary support of the bridge.

A specialist firm will start work on the underpinning within a few days, with the work itself estimated to take three to five days. The work was originally scheduled to start on Tuesday, but the complexity of the whole event requires longer preparation.
The structural engineer will then again assess to what extent it will be possible to load the Tyrš Bridge with traffic and to what extent the traffic will be allowed. Subsequently, we plan to replace the damaged plates and then permanently support the bridge. However, project documentation must first be prepared for this investment project.
We are aware of how important the Tyrš Bridge is for the residents of the city and our aim is to have it repaired as soon as possible. At the same time, we are intensively addressing possible traffic measures in cooperation with the CTU, traffic and municipal police. We also ask drivers to obey the traffic signs and contribute to the flow of traffic by following the rules, for example by using the correct turn signals (especially at roundabouts).
We monitored the crosswalks to see if they were impeding traffic. Measures are in place in case there is a significant traffic collapse in the city. Among them are, for example, changing traffic signs at several places in the city or giving preference to the MAD so that, for example, when exiting the New Bridge, it can bypass the motorcade.

Today a more detailed inspection of the left bank span of the Tyrš Bridge took place. The defect in this part of the bridge is more serious than expected. Therefore, on the recommendation of a structural engineer, the city has decided to close the bridge, including the underpass on the left bank, completely to all traffic, pedestrians and cyclists.
"Today in the afternoon we will be working with a specialist company to temporarily support the left bank of the bridge so that traffic and pedestrians can return to the bridge as soon as possible. I ask the public for their understanding of this situation. Safety is crucial for us," explains the Mayor Jiří Anděl.
Traffic, cyclists and pedestrians have to endure the New Bridge at the moment. Drivers are asked to be considerate to cyclists who will be crossing the New Bridge
The closure of the bridge to freight traffic over 3.5 tonnes has already occurred this Wednesday.
We will keep you informed of further progress.
