Seven wild boar piglets were born at the Děčín Zoo

The zoo celebrates another breeding success.

Děčín Zoo celebrates another new addition - and seven times more!

On Monday 7 April, seven wild boar piglets were born here. The little piglets are happy to be out in the world and have been exploring their surroundings from the first moments under the watchful eye of their caring mother. "The birth went without complications and the female takes exemplary care - she nurses, protects and warms the young ones in the safety of the nest made of hay and straw, which she prepared herself in advance. Visitors can thus observe not only the tiny striped babies in the enclosure, but also the fascinating maternal behaviour of the wild boar," said zoo spokeswoman Alena Houšková. Wild boars are an integral part of the European fauna and in the Děčín Zoo they complement the collection of animals of the unique Exposition of Czechoslovak Switzerland. The addition of seven piglets is a great joy not only for the breeders, but will surely please all visitors.
