Festival of Street Theatre - 14th year | Pavel Jarolim Memorial

Two days full of theatre performances, music and a new circus in the middle of the castle garden.

Zámek, 40502 Děčín, Ústecký kraj, Česko

In a programme designed not only for families with children, Tomáš Měcháček will present "Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps". Diva Baara is always irresistible with her concert performance, and the first night of the festival will be no different.

Saturday is packed to the brim with a programme for the whole family as well as an evening programme especially for the elderly. This includes a fireshow. To name but a few: the fantastic "football" show Vivat Messi!, Holektiv and Lessons in Spiking, Sacra Circus and its Les Clownes. And, of course, music.

  • Organized by the Děčín Municipal Theatre in cooperation with the Děčín City Information Centre and Děčín Castle, with the support of Ryko, your repair shop s.r.o.

  • Free entry

  • The event takes place in the southern castle gardens

Spiking lessons

Take a peek under the curtain of the ballet world.
How many layers does one white skirt have?
Become a pupil of our Spiking Lesson, where humour creeps in under the strict ballet baton.

The lesson Spiking with ease combines the technique of classical dance (ballet) with paired acrobatics and grotesque.

The performance includes a workshop, where the audience has the opportunity to experience a nutritious ballet training on their own body. It will start at the barre with basic ballet training - preparation for "real" ballet. We'll go over foot positions, try plie, releve and tendu, and there will be port de bras- graceful handwork. There may even be some muscle spasms while practicing the proverbial adagio. We will then combine our skills and finish with a graceful ballet bow. All in a fun way and with the least possible consequences.

Les Clowns

Crazy show

Together, let us bring to light the great, almost forgotten, Clown repertoire created by Clowns like Fratellini, Averino, Bebé, Carioli and many more. Mr. Loyal is a dressage driver and circus owner, but his animals are no longer in the manege. His nostalgic memories of big acts in three-man circuses for thousands of people materialize in the tiny manege thanks to the clowns Francois and Augusto, who leave the manege but keep coming back.
A performance for all.

16:30 - 17:10
Mouse & Mash

Since 2007, the group Myš & Maš has been performing live at various events across the country with their own songs for children.
The members of the group Mouse & Mash are professional actors and singers with many years of experience in the field, but also in working with children. Their own original works for children include musical genres from mazurka to Rock ´n´ Roll, jazz tunes, Samba, Reggae, Charleston and more. The program is always interactive: dance and movement. Thanks to this, the children get to know the diverse world of music in a natural way.

VIVAT MESSI
on the street
performance for the whole family

When football and art meet, it's freestyle.

Many little boys and girls around the world long to have their hero, longing to be Lionel Messi. He is their king, their unconquerable idol. On their journey to find their idol, they eventually discover that the true hero lives inside themselves. A show about football, about Messi, about freestyle that motivates children all over the world, about the importance of having a hero. World freestyle football champion Daniel Prazak meets DJ and musician Badfocus and dancer Dalibor Lekes / Taro Trup to tell a story about the will and desire to follow your dream.

The theatrical version, entitled Vivat Messi, is regularly performed at the Hybernia theatre space in Prague. The performance of the same name was also rehearsed in Nairobi, Kenya, where the main character was played by Kenyan national freestyle football champion Austin Junior. Vivat Messi has been selected for the 2025 edition of La Manufacture, part of one of the largest and most famous artistic events, the Festival Avignon.

MASS.K
Performative event

MASS.K is a special version of the MASS production created for the outdoor space.

"Be yourself! You know that? How many masks do we try before we find ourselves? And do you like your face?

One ego, one MC and you. An energy-packed street show attacking the search for one's "self" in today's virtual world.

MASS is a mass, but also a mass in its original meaning as a moment of union and knowledge. MASS.K works with masks as attributes, tools for transforming our own identity into forms that are our own or that we want to hide behind. It is a project that uncovers hidden desires, inner moments, and taboos. 'K' in its essence connotes the abbreviation OK - 'All Correct' but also the opposite meaning, i.e. 'Knockout'.

The performance also refers to the intense inclusion of masks as part of our lives during the Covid- 19 pandemic, when they protected, hid and decorated us at the same time.

C'est La... Wheel!

A street performance with an acrobatic bike about two people and one love.

With a fair amount of slamming and vulture-ing, the personification of an ancient human invention, the real, unadulterated bicycle, comes to you.

But our bike is a giant, it is a circus bike, a fairy tale bike, light as a lover's thought, heavy as a lonely heart, no exaggeration, five metres high, half a tonne light, perfectly balanced and controlled by the gentlest touch.

The two heroes spin a tale of a summer love that began as if on a swing and eventually soared above the clouds.

Is a bicycle the ideal means of transport for a trip for two? Are small human hands enough to spin a five-metre colossus?

You will see acrobatics, dancing and pranks, heavy balancing of risk and light dance steps.

Step into the playful cycle of love and let our circle take you high above the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
