Křížová, 405 02 Děčín, Ústecký kraj, ČeskoThe "Memory of the Nation" exhibition will explore one of the most significant transformations that Northern Bohemia underwent after World War II. It will focus on the expulsion of the German-speaking population, the subsequent resettlement of the borderlands, and how these events influenced the region’s society, landscape, and identity.
The exhibition will also present the real-life stories of eyewitnesses whose personal experiences help us better understand postwar events. One such story is that of Waltraud Benová, who grew up in a German family in Jiřetín pod Jedlovou.
An outdoor exhibition will be on display in Děčín August 19 through September 9, 2026, on Křížová Street.
The exhibition is part of the broader "Memory of the Nation" project, which will connect more than 20 cities in northern and western Bohemia in 2026.
