#Děčín is getting ready for Advent: Sauna, cross-country skiing, and a traditional Christmas

This year’s Advent program in the city will kick off on Saturday, November 28, with the opening of the Christmas Alley on Křížová Street and traditional events on Masaryk Square. The first weekend of Advent will feature a Christmas food festival, the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree, and a rich musical program on the square and at Křížovka. This year, you can also look forward to several new additions, ranging from a Christmas sauna to an après-ski party and a cross-country ski race in the city center.

#Christmas Alley in Křížovka

The Christmas Market on Křížova Street will take place from November 28 to December 31, 2026. Every day starting at 1:00 p.m., visitors will be able to visit stalls offering gifts and refreshments.

In the early evening, visitors can look forward to a variety of events, including concerts, markets, and workshops. There will also be two concerts in the church and a Christmas surprise for children.

This year’s new events include a Christmas sauna, which will take place from December 6 to 13, a winter snowball fight on December 10, and an après-ski party on December 11. On December 17, there will also be a “Křížovková 50” event for cross-country skiers.

#Christmas Food Festival

The Christmas Food Festival will take place on Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Masaryk Square in Děčín. Visitors can look forward to culinary delights and a musical program.

Starting at 3:00 p.m., there will be a contest for the best potato salad. Anyone interested can bring their tried-and-true recipe and compete for great prizes.

At 3:30 p.m., David Uličník will perform with the band Orchestryon. The singer, also known for his work with the vocal group 4TET, will present a musical experience filled with Christmas tunes.

The program will continue at 5:00 p.m. with a concert by Kateřina Steinerová and Her Swing Boys. Visitors will be able to enjoy swing music and even take to the dance floor.

#Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place on Sunday, November 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Masaryk Square and on Křížová Street in Děčín.

At Masaryk Square, visitors can look forward to a performance by children from the DDM Děčín from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. At 3:00 p.m., the Děčín High School choir will perform. At 5:00 p.m., the Christmas tree will be lit in a festive ceremony, and at 5:10 p.m., singer Kamila Nývltová will perform.

The program will also take place on Křížová Street, where visitors can meet donkeys from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fish soup will be served from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., the Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place there, followed by a performance by the SaH choir at 5:05 p.m. The program on Křížová Street will conclude at 6:00 p.m. with a performance by Iva and Tomáš Kostka.

#Christmas at Husovka

The Christmas market at Husovka will take place on Saturday, December 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Husovo Square in Podmokly.

The program will begin at 1:00 p.m., when traditional Christmas fish soup will be served to visitors, who can sample it for free until 2:30 p.m. At the same time, students from the Děčín Music School will perform their Christmas program, during which visitors can look forward to more than just singing performances.

At 3:30 p.m., the program will continue with a traditional Christmas concert by the Děčín Choir, which will perform its Christmas repertoire. Then, at 5:00 p.m., Vlasta Horváth, winner of the second season of the “Czech Republic’s SuperStar” competition, will take the stage with a Christmas-themed musical program.

Throughout the markets, there will be stalls on site offering Christmas decorations, small gifts, mulled wine, and other Christmas treats.

#Christmas Trail Through Děčín

Once again this year, families with children, as well as schools and preschools, won’t have to miss out on the Christmas Trail. It will follow new routes and offer new challenges and rewards. The Christmas atmosphere throughout the city will also be enhanced by new light displays and photo spots, which will invite visitors to stop and take festive photos. This year, the city will decorate three Christmas trees—on Masaryk Square, Hus Square, and Křížová Street.
