Breaking news: Bridge in Decin closed for all traffic including pedestrians

At the recommendation of a structural engineer, the city closed the bridge completely to all traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. The closure includes the bridge underpass on the left bank.

“This afternoon, we will be working with experts to find a way to temporarily support the left-bank end of the bridge so that traffic and pedestrians can return as soon as possible. I ask for the public’s understanding and patience. Safety is of the utmost concern for us," explained Mayor Jiří Anděl.

Automobile traffic, cyclists and pedestrians will have to use the highway bridge located upstream of Tyrs Bridge at this time. Drivers are asked to be considerate to cyclists who will be crossing the New Bridge

The bridge had already been closed to trucks weighing over 3.5 tons on Wednesday.
