Edmund Gorge reopens July 19

Three years after a devastating forest fire closed the gorge, it is now safe to welcome back visitors. For now, the daily number of visits is limited.

The city of Hrensko has given the green light to reopen Edmund Gorge to visitors, making one of Bohemian Switzerland’s main attractions accessible again. The gorge reopens July 19, three years after it was closed by a devastating forest fire. For the time being, only guided visits are allowed and their number will be limited.

A maximum of 50 people will be able to visit the gorge daily. Visitors will have to buy tickets at the information center at the confluence of the Kamenice and Elbe rivers, which is at the other end of the village than the entrance to Edmund Gorge. The village is exploring the possibility of online sales in the future, but for now, only physical tickets will be available for purchase.

The gorge can only be entered with a guide. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes, and dogs, strollers, and children in carriers will not be allowed to enter. Similarly, for the time being, Edmund Gorge cannot be visited in a wheelchair. The weather, especially significant rainfall or wind that could dislodge trees or rocks above the gorge, may also affect tours.
