On Friday 5 June, the 20th anniversary of the charity event Night of Dreams for disabled and chronically ill guests will take place at the Děčín Zoo. The zoo will be open for regular visitors only until 5 pm.
This Friday, June 5, the Děčín Zoo will belong to the handicapped and chronically ill guests. The 20th anniversary year of the charity event Night of Dreams will take place here, which brings an evening full of joy, unusual experiences and fulfilled wishes.
The event is intended primarily for sick children from families, but also for disabled clients from social care institutions, special schools and other similar facilities. This year more than 300 disabled participants and their escorts accepted the invitation.
"The patronage of the 20th year of the event was gladly accepted by the Governor of the Ústí nad Labem Region Richard Brabec and Senator for the Děčín Region Zbyněk Linhart," said zoo spokesperson Alena Houšková.
The idea for the event was conceived in 1996 at Rotterdam Zoo and in 2004, Zoo Děčín was the first Czech zoo to join the event.
The programme will offer competitions, activities with animals and natural resources, theatre, magician, disco and bubble show. There will also be a plush mascot Bruno the Bear. The opening ceremony will be hosted by the Mayor of Děčín Jiří Anděl and his deputy Anna Lehká.
Visitors can look forward to a performance by Bubble Evička, a fairy tale Spring Bearberry performed by Divadlo na háčku, magician Milan Lysák, guitar performance by Happy Guitars and live disco with competitions with DJ Girl Renhulí. The evening will end with a UV bubble show.
DDM Děčín, the Association of Nature Guardians of the Czech Republic, falconer Martina Hendrychová, the Czech Red Cross and the Děčín Secondary Medical School will also participate in the programme in the zoo grounds. The parrots of the Hois family will also offer an interesting spectacle.
Dream Night is made possible thanks to the support of partners, sponsors and volunteers. The main partner of this year's event is the Ústí nad Labem Region. Thanks also go to Globus Ústí nad Labem, Lengau, Zelenina, ovoce MAR MAT, all performers and volunteers.
On Friday, 5 June, the zoo will be partially restricted for regular visitors. Tickets will be sold only until 4 pm and the zoo grounds will be open only until 5 pm.
