On Friday May 16 at 3 p.m. Tyrs Bridge reopened to cyclists, pedestrians, emergency vehicles, and city buses. It remains closed to automobile traffic.
Tyrs Bridge, the bridge in the heart of Decin, underwent inspection this morning after several days of work putting a temporary support in place. The verdict? Buses (city and regional), cyclists, pedestrians and emergency services will be able to use the bridge again. The bridge, however, remains closed to all other vehicular traffic.
“At the recommendation of the structural engineer, we have decided that in addition to cyclists and pedestrians, we will also allow buses and emergency services on Tyrs Bridge, which are a priority for us,” says Mayor Jiří Anděl.
“Work on securing the bridge will continue and the roadway is narrowed on the end of the bridge on the left bank because of it. We expect that cars will be able to drive on the bridge again in about three weeks. For the time being, we cannot allow them there not only because of the load, but also so that work can proceed at a faster pace,” adds Deputy Mayor Ondřej Smíšek. The bridge was completely closed two weeks ago on Friday, 2 May. Immediately afterwards, preparatory work began on temporary support of the bridge.
