August 5, 2022, Decin: Firefighters continue to battle the forest fire above Hrensko
Firefighters continue to battle the forest fire that broke out in Malinovy dul near Hrensko on July 24.
The good news is that as the fire abates many of the most popular tourist destinations in this area have emerged unscathed. There has been no significant damage to Pravcicka brana arch, the historic Sokoli hnizdo restaurant at its foot, or the structures and boats in the Edmund Gorge. These destinations, however, remain closed.

We recommend the following destinations for your vacation itinerary at this time:
- Decin – the castle and its rose garden, zoo, via ferrata, swimming complex, Quaderberg bluff and its panoramic points, Ruzovy vrch, Belveder, Maxicky
- River cruises to points in Germany are expected to resume operations on Monday, August 8 – latest info at www.labskaplavebni.cz (Dolni Zleb ferry is operating only for passengers staying at the local guest house and for raft passengers – until at least Sunday, August 7)
- Tisa rock formations
- Decinsky Sneznik watchtower – great views
- Jetrichovice – the viewpoints Mariina vyhlidka, Vileminina stena, and Rudolfuv kamen; Pavlinino udoli valley, the dwarf cliffs, Na Tokani, Koliste, Ruzovsky vrch, and Ruzenka viewpoint – stay on marked hiking trails in these areas
- Dolsky mlyn mill – added by the fire service and the national park authority to the list of safe places; although this spot is officially still closed, the prohibition will not be enforced for hikers approaching on the trail from Jetrichovice
- Ceska Kamenice – Studenec viewing point, St. Mary's chapel, St. James' church, Jehla, the fraternal altar, Zlaty and Stribrny hills
- Doubice – the Kyjov valley, Kyjov castle ruins, Kogler education trail, Zadni Doubice, the "mousehole" stairs, Kyjov swimming hole
- Krasna Lipa – Bohemian Switzerland House exhibit, Vlci Hora viewpoint, Falkenstejn brewery
- Sluknov spur – Sluknov castle, the calgary walk, Rumburk loreto, Tanecnice and Dymnik viewpoints, Hradek

Across the border in Saxony
Entry to the forests is prohibited in all of Saxon Switzerland and the Ore Mountains in Saxony.
