New shuttle bus serves Wild Gorge

Visitors who wish to avoid Hrensko’s overflowing paid parking lots when visiting Wild Gorge, can now take the new shuttlebus 441. The shuttle operates daily in July–August and on weekends in May and June, running every half hour.

Wild Gorge can be approached from two directions: From Mezna on the green trail or from Janov (bus stop Na Hajenkach) also on the green trail. Mezna is closers, but the return hike is up a rather steep hill and the trail (both from Mezna and from Janov) is not suitable for strollers. Hikers can also continue their trip from Mezna on to Mezni Louka on the green trail an enjoy views of meadows and cliffs.

From Mezna, the trail descends into a valley, from which it is a short walk on the yellow trail to the boat dock. Wild Gorge is not open to through navigation at the moment – riders will ride out and back on the boats – as the dock on the upper end is currently out of operation. The ride is about 20 minutes – 100 CZK for adults, 50 CZK for children – and includes interesting facts and “river humor” from the guides. The boats run daily. From the dock the trail goes back across a footbridge and up to Mezna or hikers can go up in the opposite direction to Hajenky. For those who want to continue all the way to Hrensko, continue from Mezna on the yellow trail (Mlynska cesta), which offers a good view of Pravcicka Brana arch. The trail goes to Tri Prameny and then follows the road to Hrensko or back to Mezna, where the shuttle bus picks up passengers for the trip back to Decin.
