2022 City Festival is almost here

Concerts, fireworks, market fairs… after two years of silence the city festival roars back!

After a two-year hiatus due to the corona virus pandemic, Decin can finally look forward to its traditional May festival.

The 2022 City Festival includes favorite events like the fireworks display, the Labefest music festival, and the Adrenalin Challenge. The program covers four weekends in May and there is plenty to look forward to. First up is the floral arrangement competition Decinska Kotva. Competing arrangements will be on display starting Friday, May 13.

On Decin Castle grounds the following day we kick off the Historical May Fair, while wood sculptors will show off their skills on the parking lot just off of the Marian Meadow and a veteran car show Jizda na pohodu will begin at the parking lot below the municipal library.

Aside from Jizda na pohodu, all of these events will continue throughout the weekend, ending on Sunday May 15.

The following weekend is set aside for Labefest music festival on the riverside below Decin Castle. The festival lasts two days and fans can look forward to major Czech acts like Divokej Bill and Horkyze Slize, rocker Kamil Strihavka, and singer Dalibor Janda. Tickets are already available.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, May 20, with a fireworks display.

On Saturday, May 21, Decin will be pumping with the Adrenalin Challenge on the riverside, with a kids challenge on Sunday.

The third festival weekend arrives on Saturday, May 28, with Mlade Labe, a showcase of youth talent and contests for the whole family on the riverside. For seniors, there is Senior Day on Sunday, May 29, on the riverside below the castle.

The City Festival spills over into the first weekend of June too, with the Elbe Streetball Cup taking over the parking lot by the library. Other events will include Belaskove klani, a day of contests and fun for children near the castle. In Krizova ulice wine-lovers come into their own with Den v ruzovem, a wine festival dedicated to rosés.

And on Sunday, June 5, we’ll wrap it all up with a day of games on the football (soccer) pitch in Stare Mesto.
